COWEB Final International Conference

On October 30th and 31st 2025, the International Burch University in Sarajevo will host the COWEB Final International Conference. The conference will bring together academics, researchers, and policymakers to discuss the latest developments and future directions in Virtual Collaborative Learning (VCL).

The conference will start with an welcome address by Dr. Irfan Djedovic from International Burch University, followed by an introductory presentation by Dr. Esmir Demaj from Epoka University, entitled “Education through Digitalization: COWEB in line with EU’s Priority for a Digital Future.”

In the afternoon, the conference will feature the Students’ Competition Presentation and Award Ceremony, led by Dr. Malcolm Duerod from International Burch University, recognizing innovative student contributions to the COWEB project.

The keynote speech, “Towards a VCL Future,” will be delivered by Dr. Eric Schoop from the Technical University of Dresden and Dr. Esmir Demaj from Epoka University. This session will highlight the evolving landscape of digital education and the transformative role of virtual collaboration in higher education.
Three other sessions will follow:

  • Session I, focusing on Pedagogical Innovation in VCL: will examine how universities can design effective and engaging collaborative learning experiences in the digital era. Topics will include the contextualization of digital pedagogies, course design for virtual collaboration, and technological infrastructure to support implementation. Speakers include
    Dr. Mattis Altmann, Dr. Eric Schoop, Sophie Cool, Dardane Nuka and Agim Kasaj.
  • Session II, Case Studies and Regional Perspectives: will explore leadership in VCL, strategies for overcoming barriers to collaboration, university and government policies supporting VCL, and methods for assessing student performance. Presenters include Dr. Dorsaf Ben Malek, Dr. Nada Trunk, Dr. Atdhe Kabashi, Dr. Ardiana Topi, Dr. Esmir Demaj, Anisa Isufi, and Dr. Erdet Kellici.
  • Session III, Future-Ready Virtual Collaborative Learning: Technology, Competencies, and Sustainability: will address forward-looking themes such as artificial intelligence in education, key competencies for lifelong learning, and cultural perspectives in virtual collaboration. Contributions will be made by Dr. Valentina Ndou, Dijana Vučković, Aleksandra Vuković, and Nevena Mijailović, along with the Kolegji Biznesi Team.
